Droitwich High School, Hereford and Worcester. 1979-85 Assistant, then Head of Music, Foxhole, Dartington Hall School, Devon (full-time). 1985- Freelance, Self-Employed Music Teacher and Musician, including; Present. 1985-87 Visiting Music Teacher: Dartington Hall School. 1985-91 Visiting Keyboard and Drums Teacher, also Director: Adult Education Jazz Workshop; King Edward VI Community College, Totnes 1985-90 Director: Jazz Workshops, Exeter and Devon Arts Centre. 1986- Director: Jazz Course: Dartington International Summer School. 1987- Visiting Tutor in Jazz Piano; Jazz Workshop leader and visiting lecturer in Jazz and improvisation: Dartington College of Arts. 1987 Leader: Lewis Riley Quartet plus Maggie Nicols, Arts Council Jazz in Education Project in Three Devon Schools. 1989-96 Visiting Jazz Piano Tutor and Lecturer in Jazz and North Indian Classical Music: University of Exeter, Dept. of Education (St. Lukes). 1995- Founder member: Totnes Jazz Collective and M.D. of their Big Band. 1996-97 PRS Jazz Composer in Residence in three Cornish schools (Bude, Torpoint and Callington ) working with GCSE and "A" level students. 1997-00 Music Programmer: Dartington Arts (part-time), booking artistes and running concerts, mostly in Dartington Great Hall, of classical, jazz, folk and world music. Also programming for the University of Exeter Subscription Series and Thursday lunchtime concerts. 1998 National Lottery Grant, A4E, to take 13-piece Totnes Jazz Collective Big Band into 5 schools in Devon and Cornwall to do workshops and concerts. 1998 Commission from Dartington Arts and Dartington Trio to compose a work for the Trio to perform with children from Dartington Primary School. Mother Goose was performed in the Great Hall at Dartington in Dec. 1998. 1999- Running a Jazz Band at King Edward V1 Community College, Totnes 2000- Administrator and teacher at SaMS Saturday Music School, KEVICC, Totnes 2001- forms Brasiliance, 5 piece Latin based band featuring Noelle Kadory on vocals 2002- Visiting lecturer on B.Mus course at Truro College As well as the above, less regular work includes lecturing, performing, individual and group tuition throughout the South West, mainly in Jazz and in Indian music. |

COMPOSITIONS Over one hundred compositions, mostly in the jazz idiom for large and small ensembles including arrangements for Jazz workshops and the Totnes Jazz Collective Big Band. Also, incidental music and songs for school drama productions, notably a full length rock musical The Voyage and Homecoming of Ulysses with drama teacher Derek Paget, at Droitwich High School (1978). Major venue performances of compositions include: Lewis Riley Band (sextet) - St. Georges, Brandon Hill, Bristol. Dartington Hall, Devon. The Albert, Bristol, Lewis Riley Quartet with Maggie Nicols (voice) (South West Arts Tour)- The Arnolfini, Bristol. The Guildhall, Gloucester. Pulse(Midlands based quintet)- The Band on the Wall, Manchester. Arts Centres and Jazz clubs in; Derby Birmingham Leicester Exeter Threeway Street Folk-based trio) Royal Festival Hall, London Folk Clubs and Arts Centres from Penzance to Kendal.
